GE will provide illumination for stadiums

An ensemble of 396 ultramodern floodlights, with 2,000 watts of power each, will ensure the lighting and improve the visibility inside and outside the lawn of the Journalist Mário Filho Stadium, also known as Maracanã, during the games of the World Cup 2014.

Besides Maracanã, four other sports complexes for the World Cup have lighting systems developed by GE: the National Stadium of Brasilia and the arenas in Amazônia, in Manaus, Beira-Rio, in Porto Alegre and Pernambuco, in Recife’s Metropolitan Region.

The five stages will be lightened by new GE EF2000 reflectors. Consistent with the energy efficiency requirements set by the International Football Federation (FIFA), they will bring light to 28 of the 64 matches of the World Cup.
