With photo-sharing platforms gaining momentum, Coca-Cola also taps into this trend by launching a new destination that can become a true rival to Instagram and Flickr. The new destination, which also seems to be working as a social network, is about to launch at www.happyplaces.com.
Currently, the platform is inactive, but Coca-Cola released a free iOS app on the iTunes store on November 1, which allows to see what the new platform will be like.
“Your day, your friends, your trips, your music… your life is full of happy moments worth storing and sharing. ?Happy Places by Coca-Cola is that place where you can upload photos of your happy moments, share them, and remember them any time you want.?Take a picture or pick one from your albums, add it to your profile, and share that moment of happiness with your followers in Happy Places, or your friends in Facebook or Twitter,” says the brand in the description to the app.
The happiness theme can be seen behind most of Coca-Cola’s studies and activations-Coca-Cola Happiness Truck, Machine, Table – and the new service is quite a good addition to this range. Coca-Cola encourages its fans to share their happiest moments with a user-friendly app, which allows to create Happy Places profiles, browse photos by following various #hashtags (including #music, #beautiful, #joy, #DogsLife, #girlfriends to name but a few), get notifications on new pics added in their interests and more.
With the new application, users can create their Happy Moments offline when they want it, and then upload them when they have the Internet connection. In addition, users can share the Happy Moments with their friends on Facebook.
The application doesn’t have filters like Instagram, so sharing is the only thing it does with photos, no artistic component is offered, still the name of the brand -Coca-Cola- can help the new product find its place in the packed market of photo-sharing services. Once the website launches, more detail will be available on the new service.
