On April 24th, the Ministry of Sports announce the city of Palmas to host the World Indigenous Games, which take place in the second half of 2015.
The announcement reinforces the information that the technical design submitted by the city of Palmas was the most suitable to the need of the event. Palmas competed with the Pará Belém and Maraba.
The prediction is that the games will happen between July and September next year, and the city might receive 22 Brazilian ethnic groups, and indigenous from over 20 countries. The design for the event includes sports facilities, accommodation and various structures to visitors.
With the completion of the World Indigenous Games, Palmas will be the only city in the country to receive legacy of three international events, since it has already secured the two center Initiation sports (Olympic legacy) and a Centre of Excellence of Soccer (legacy Cup), both designed by the federal government.
