Google launches online community for military

The site will offer employment resources for members of the community and host panels for vets to connect with career services, job opportunities, and each other.

Now, military veterans have their own online community. VetNet is aimed at helping their entry back to the civilian life. Google, with Hiring Our Heroes program, the Institute for Veterans and Military Families, and Hire Heroes USA, has put the powers of Google + behind this single hub to give veterans access to tools and jobs.

Organizations will be able to offer their services to the veteran community in one easy-to-use place. The site will offer employment resources for members of the community and host panels for vets to connect with career services, job opportunities, and each other. The content is organized into three tracks (basic training, career connections, and entrepreneur), each hosted on its own Google+ page.

“We’re proud to join forces with the Chamber, IVMF and Hire Heroes USA—to help them do what they do so well, and to simplify the process of finding and using resources for the veterans community. Our hope is simply to connect help to those who need it”, said Andy Berndt from Google’s Creative Lab.
