Hotels and training centers set up for the World Cup

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Fifa World Cup, released the final list of Training Centers for the Teams (CTSS) chosen by the 32 teams that will be playing in the tournament.

On January 31, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Fifa World Cup, released the final list of Training Centers for the Teams (CTSS) chosen by the 32 teams that will be playing in the tournament.

“This is a pivotal moment, because from now on we can work with a real scenario. By knowing exactly where each team will stay and train, we can begin to detail the planning for the whole security operation, transport, logistics and other areas”, says Frederico Nantes, general manager of COL`s Competition and Teams Services.

The facilities evaluation began in December 2011, ending May 2013. In total, a team of 18 professionals from COL traveled 250,000 km across the country to inspect the training facilities and official hotels.

403 candidates in 25 Brazilian states plus the Federal District were evaluated by COL. The final version of the catalog of CTSs was launched in October 2013, counting with 83 locations.

Among the chosen centers, 24 are located in the southeastern region, five in the Northeast Region and three in the South of the country. The municipalities of Campinas, Itu, Rio de Janeiro and Vitoria will receive two teams each.

Among the host cities, only Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo will receive teams. The state which will receive more selections is Sao Paulo, chosen by 15 of them.

“This is a concrete opportunity to expand São Paulo`s population participation on the event, promoting its tourist attractions, tooking advantage of the existing infrastructure, the permanent improvements done to it as a result of the event and all the cultural diversity of the state”, said Julio Semeghini, State Planning Secretary and Coordinator of São Paulo´s Cup 2014 Comittee .
