For matters of security, during the World Cup in Brazil, federation presidents, FIFA officials and moguls will not be present in the country to watch the matches.
The moguls will attend the annual FIFA Congress, held in São Paulo a few days before the start of matches. Then, they will leave the country, returning only for the big final. The decision was taken due to fear that new protests like those that took place during the Confederations Cup 2013 would happen again, when even official car´s identification and hotel flags had to be removed for fear of repression.
The security strategy also involves a media campaign. FIFA’s president, Sepp Blatter, said that he believes that football will not be affected by the protests, despite knowing that they are imminent. On the other hand, the government´s main concern is to protect the heads of state, politicians, world leaders and personalities.
